Courier Top-Up Cover

(All couriers covered should always have a copy of this document in their vehicle when providing and/or performing services on behalf of Relay Technologies Limited)

INTRODUCTION

Relay Technologies Limited (Relay) has arranged motor fleet insurance with Aviva Insurance Limited (the “Third Party Liability Cover”) providing business third party liability motor cover for its couriers whilst they are delivering parcels on behalf of Relay Technologies Limited. The protection is provided by Aviva Insurance Limited (Policy number 100778233CMI) to Relay Technologies Limited is subject to an eligibility criteria and this document provides a summary of the cover.

YOU MUST CONTINUE TO INSURE YOUR VEHICLE FOR:

  1. SOCIAL DOMESTIC PLEASURE & COMMUTING USE IN ACCORDANCE WITH LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

POLICY COVER

What is covered?

  • Cover is provided for Couriers that are under contract with Relay Technologies Limited
  • Cover is provided on Third Party Only basis
  • Cover is ONLY operative whilst the vehicle is being driven for the purpose of delivering parcels for Relay Technologies Limited
  • Cover is provided whilst the Courier is driving a vehicle that the Courier is insured to drive that is registered at their place of residence (i.e., cover is not vehicle specific)

There is NO cover for:

  • Damage to your vehicle, fire, theft, or damage to the Windscreen
  • Loss of or damage to parcels or other goods or products belonging to Relay Technologies Limited,
  • Damage caused by loading or unloading of parcels
  • Social, domestic or pleasure use or ANY other business use whatsoever
  • Liability arising out of the use of any vehicle exceeding 3.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight
  • If You misrepresent the position in relation to eligibility for cover under our fleet insurance or otherwise breach the terms of this agreement, you will be liable for all losses which either Aviva or Relay must pay under any compulsory insurance regulations.

IF YOU ARE STOPPED BY THE POLICE AND QUESTIONED ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS USAGE COVER

  1. Show the Police a copy of this document which fully explains the scheme and quotes the Policy Number. Note this policy will not appear in any database search undertaken by the Police as it is not the primary policy. (The primary policy which will show in the Police search is the SD&P cover which is mandatory in order for any courier to participate in this scheme).
  2. If further verification is required by the Police, they should be given the following number to ring (Adriana Cavallaro – 0141 226 8775), which will take them through to a team which handles our policy. Please note this number should only be used during the hours of 9am to 5pm (Monday to Friday).
  3. If stopped outside of normal working hours or if further verification is required by the Police, you should ask the Officer to allow you to contact Relay to obtain the policy certificate as further evidence of cover.

IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT YOUR VEHICLE IS SEIZED BY THE POLICE AFTER FOLLOWING THE PROCESS OUTLINED ABOVE OR IF A FIXED PENALTY NOTICE IS ISSUED:

If Police are concerned that they cannot find a record of the business usage on their database, they are supposed to investigate further options prior to considering seizure of the vehicle (as outlined in points (2) and (3) above).

If, however, in the unfortunate event your vehicle is seized, a charge will be levied for both the seizure and release of your vehicle. The impoundment notice gives full details of how to obtain a refund in respect of any monies paid in this respect.

If a fixed penalty notice is issued, then a court appearance must be requested. Upon production of the appropriate policy information, the fixed penalty will be struck out.

IN THE EVENT OF AN INCIDENT:

  1. Contact 0800 092 3849 / csrfnol@aviva.com (these details can be used to report claims 24 hours a day, seven days a week)
  2. For claims involving a third party, it is imperative that any claims are reported immediately. (We have found that early notification and a proactive approach can significantly reduce the cost of third-party repairs).
    1. Ensure you are safe at your location, your personal safety is paramount
    2. If anyone is injured report the incident to the police and call an ambulance
    3. Note down the name and telephone numbers of any witnesses.
    4. Do not admit liability or make any offer of settlement.
    5. Exchange details with the other party, and obtain the following details:
      1. Name
      2. Address
      3. Contact Telephone Number
      4. Email
      5. Vehicle registration number, make and model
      6. Details of any passengers in the other vehicle, record how many occupants were in the vehicle, their descriptions and where they were seated.

THE ACCEPTANCE BY US TO YOU TO USE OUR THIRD-PARTY LIABILITY POLICY DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A CONTRACT OF INSURANCE. RELAY TECHNOLOGIES REMAIN THE SOLE POLICYHOLDER
