Introducing: On Call Shifts
Designed for flexibility, reliability — and guaranteed pay.
What is an On Call Shift?
An On Call Shift means you're on standby — ready and available to be called in if needed.
You’re not guaranteed to drive, but must be prepared to respond and arrive promptly if contacted.
How does it work?
- You’ll be on standby between 5:30 AM and 7:30 AM
- If we call you, you must arrive at the depot within 30–45 minutes
- If you’re not called, you still receive £75 flat pay
- If you are called in, you’ll be paid the full shift rate
How much do I get paid?
- £75 flat rate — even if you’re not called in
- Full shift pay — if you are called in and complete a route
Where do I go for this shift?
If called in, you’ll start as usual from the depot:
London Depot – UB11
DC5A, Prologis Park, 2 Iron Bridge Road, Stockley Park, West Drayton, UB11 1FP
What happens if I don’t answer or arrive late?
- No response to call = counted as a no-show
- Penalty: 2 strikes + immediate 1-week suspension (as per policy)
- Late arrival (beyond 45 minutes after call) = 1 strike
Can I book more than one On Call Shift?
Yes — and to qualify for Priority+, you must complete 2 or more On Call Shifts per month
Where do I find these shifts?
On Call Shifts appear in When I Work like regular shifts, but will be labeled:
“On Call London"
What do I need to do to prepare?
- Be awake and ready from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM
- Keep your phone on loud and nearby
- Be ready to leave immediately and arrive at the depot within 30–45 minutes if called
- Treat this as a professional commitment — you are expected to show up if contacted
What if I’m not called in?
No problem — you’ll still receive £75 for staying ready. Your reliability helps keep the operation running smoothly.
